YS Jagan Launches YSR Kanti Velugu Scheme in Anantapur:- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy today launched YSR Kanti Velugu scheme for the people of Andhra Pradesh in Anantapur on the occasion of World Sight Day. Under this scheme, all the five crore people will get a chance for comprehensive eye care and rectify their vision defects. YS Jagan called it a revolutionary scheme as it helps to build a healthy eyesight for all the citizens.
Andhra Pradesh government will bear the cost of the preliminary eye check-up and the surgeries across the state. The program will be implemented in six phases in the next three years. Seventy lakh school children will be covered in this scheme and this will be made true in the first two phases. Starting from October 10th to 16th, preliminary eye tests would be conducted across all the government and private schools in AP. Surgeries will be conducted for free of cost between November 1st and 30th.
Along with these, the advance treatment needed for children will be done in November. Primary mass eye screening, prescription and distribution of spectacles, secondary and tertiary care management like cataract surgeries, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy will be covered under YSR Kanti Velugu Scheme. The estimated cost of this project is said to be Rs 560.88 crores. A task force with the support of the Collector would monitor the program in every district.
160 District Programme Officers, 1,415 medical officers, 42,360 ASHA workers, 62,500 teachers, 14,000 ANMs and 14,000 public health wing staff will be a part of this scheme. To register and know more about how to benefit from the YSR Kanti Velugu log on to the YSR Kanti Velugu website:
