Nirbhaya Rape Convicts Seeks Stay On Hanging:- The Delhi Court along with the Supreme Court made it clear asking the Tihar jail authorities to implement hanging on February 1st for all the four accused in the Nirbhaya case. The mercy petitions have been rejected by the President and the four convicted have been trying their best to postpone the hanging. Their lawyer today moved to a Delhi Court seeking a stay in the execution of hanging citing that legal remedies are yet to be availed. Special Judge AK Jain heard the plea today.

Nirbhaya was brutally raped and killed on the night of December 16th, 2012 in a moving bus by six youngsters. She died on December 29th the same year and the final verdict has been out recently. Two days before the execution of punishment, a plea got filed to hold the execution. Aksay Singh requested the Patiala House Court to stay the hanging. The Supreme Court will hear the petition today. As per the early updates, the execution may not take place on February 1st at 6 AM. Akshay Singh's curative petition will be heard in their chambers by the judges and not in an open court.
