AP Government Hikes Power Charges in the State

AP Government Hikes Power Charges in the State:- Here is one more shock for the people of Andhra Pradesh from the government after it decided to hike the power charges right before the summer. The power charges per unit are increased from Rs 9.05 to Rs 9.95 for all those who use more than 500 units in a month. It is heard that this would impact over 1.35 lakh households in the state. All those who are using less than 500 units every month are said to be 1.45 crore in Andhra Pradesh.

This came as a shock for people before summer as the power consumption would be huge in the coming months. Most of them will be using ACs in the state and this would consume more power. The power prices is also a blow for several corporate companies and other industries that are under huge financial crisis in Andhra Pradesh. CV Nagarjuna Reddy, the Chairman of APERC said that the government took the call as they had to fill the revenue gaps in the state which are estimated to be high.
