Huge Uproar In Thoothukudi Over Custodial Death Of 2 Traders:- The whole Tamil Nadu erupted with protests after the custodial death of two shopkeepers that took place on Wednesday. Though it took some time to see the light, the traders across the state announced their decision to shut the shops across Tamil Nadu and staged protests against the death of the two shopkeepers in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), a coastal town in Tamil Nadu. The President of the Tamil Nadu Traders Association (TNTA) Vellaiyan said that the shutters of all the shops in Tamil Nadu will be closed for a day for the deaths of Jayaray and Fenix in the police custody.

Jayaray and Fenix are father and son duo who owned a small mobile phone shop in Thoothukudi. Jayaray and Fenix were killed in police custody over a petty argument. The incident triggered protests across the state and several celebrities, politicians and film stars responded about the incident. 60-year-old Jayaray and his 30-year-old son Fenix were detained by the Thoothukudi cops on Monday night after their mobile phone shop was kept open after the permissible hours during the lockdown.

The argument heated up and a cop manhandled Jayaraj. It is then Fenix intervened into the issue and the duo was taken into Sathankulam police station. Two sub-inspectors brutally assaulted Jayaray and Fenix. After several hours of the assault, the duo was sent to the hospital. Soon Fenix died and his father died few hours after the death of Fenix. With huge protests all over, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court asked the post-mortem procedure to the photographed. All the cops involved in this incident have been suspended. The court also ordered a suo-moto inquiry in the incident.

DMK president and opposition leader MK Stalin demanded the government of Tamil Nadu to take immediate action against the cops. Several Kollywood celebrities demanded justice in the incident and the hashtag #JusticeForJayarajAndFenix is now trending on twitter.
