KCR and YS Jagan to Meet on August 5th:- The Chief Ministers of Telugu states K Chandrasekhar Rao and YS Jaganmohan Reddy will meet on August 5th to discuss about the construction of the irrigation projects in the two states on Godavari and Krishna rivers. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat called for an apex council meeting on the river disputes between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Both KCR and YS Jagan will attend the high profile meeting through video conference considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. A detailed discussion about the projects in the Telugu states would be made.
The Centre will then suggest how to solve the water issues amicably and share the water among the states. The Union Minister asked the Chief Ministers to revert back if they would be available for the meeting on August 5th. Telangana government already filed a complaint to the Krishna board about the capacity of the lift irrigation project and Pothireddypadu. Both the states complained each other but there was no proposal sent to the Centre. The apex council was formed to resolve the disputes between the Telugu states as there are several common projects. This would be the second council meeting after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
