Vijayawada Fire Tragedy: Ramesh Hospitals Flouted The Norms:- The Vijayawada fire tragedy in Swarna Palace which was turned into a COVID centre killed 11 people and injured many. A district-level committee is formed to investigate the matter as per the orders of the AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Ramesh Hospital has been holding the COVID centre in Swarna Palace and they flouted all the necessary norms that should be followed to run the COVID-19 Care Centre (CCC). They had not complied with any norms that are required to run a COVID accommodation centre said the committee report. The mandatory permissions are not acquired by the Ramesh Hospitals from the state government. The committee also found that Ramesh Hospitals has been running similar centres in other hotels in Vijayawada city.

The reports also said that the CCC was operating in severe violation of the treatment protocols. The hospital authorities have been providing treatment to the patients whose reports were negative and they offered Remdesivir injections to all the patients. Ramesh Hospitals was treating COVID-19 patients at the Swarna Palace Hotel before they had an agreement with the hotel. The hotel did not have a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for fire and they had dues of Rs 33.69 lakhs to be paid for the Municipal Corporation of Vijayawada. The detailed report was submitted by the committee to the AP Government yesterday.

The committe was headed by Joint Collector L Siva Shankar and it inspected the hotel premises which got converted into a COVID hotel by Ramesh Hospitals. The fire accident took place on August 9th and there were 30 patients when the fire accident took place.
