Russia to Supply Ten Crore Doses of Coronavirus Vaccine to India:- Russia announced that the country is all set to launch its first-ever coronavirus vaccine named Sputnik V and the country announced that it would supply 100 million doses (10 crore doses) of the vaccine to Dr Reddy's Laboratories which is one of the leading drug makers of the country. These doses would be sent to conduct the third phase of clinical trials in the country. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Dr Reddy's Laboratories came to an agreement about the clinical trials and the distribution of Sputnik V. They made a joint statement about the same today. India is the second most impacted country of the globe due to the coronavirus pandemic.
RDIF CEO Kirill Dmitriev said that their human adenovirus dual vector platform will provide a safe and scientifically validated option to India to fight against the coronavirus. GV Prasad, MD of Dr Reddy's Laboratories said that they are pleased to join hands with The Russian Direct Investment Fund to bring the vaccine to the country. He said that the results of the first and second phases have been promising. The third phase of the clinical trials will commence soon and they are confident that they would meet the requirements of the regulators in the country. The deliveries of Sputnik V are expected to start in 2020 after the human trials are completely successful.
They did not reveal any financial details about the deal. The Lancet published the details about the first and second phase of clinical trials of Sputnik V. Sputnik V is the first-ever world's registered vaccine against coronavirus by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. It got registered by the Ministry of Health of Russia.
