Telangana Third in the Country in Vaccination Coverage for Children:- The entire nation is shattered because of the coronavirus outbreak and the people are restricted to their homes from the past six months. People are slowly returning back to normal after a long restriction. Telangana is now the third successful state in the universal immunisation of children. Telangana is the third state after Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya. Telangana reported 87.8 percent vaccination coverage for over 3,63,000 children from January to August in 2020. Jammu and Kashmir is on the top of the list with highest immunisation coverage of 98.3 percent and Meghalaya is second in the list with 89.7 percent coverage.
The pentavalent vaccine which protects children against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae are given to the children. Along with this, Measles Rubella and polio vaccine are provided to children. The Telangana Health Department and officials said that they have zeroed in a list of regions and children who are yet to be vaccinated. The vaccinations were even given for the children during the coronavirus season. As most of the cases are in the cities, the program was never interrupted. The government provided free vehicles to transport the mothers to the hospitals and back to their homes.
