KCR Opposes Centre's Move On Godavari And Krishna Waters:- The Apex Council meeting took place yesterday and the Chief Ministers of Telugu states KCR and YS Jaganmohan Reddy attended the meeting in the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The Centre decided to leave the management of water of Godavari and Krishna waters to the respective boards of the states but it was opposed by Telangana Chief Minister KCR. But Centre decided to take it ahead as per the AP Reorganization Act. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that the jurisdiction of the boards will be informed and notified soon. This is the second apex council meeting that was held through a video conference.

The regulation of Krishna waters will be completely based on the award of Krishna Waters Dispute Tribunal and it would be revisited after KWDT2 award is published. KCR was unhappy over fixing the ration of Krishna water sharing between AP and Telangana. The Centre now defined the new projects and asked the states AP and Telangana to submit their detailed project reports. KCR said that the Telangana government would construct a barrage at Alampur-Pedda Marur on the Krishna river so that they could lift 3tmc ft of water per day. KCR warned to go with this move if the AP government doesn't stop the illegal construction of projects on Krishna river.

KCR expressed his unhappiness on Union Jal Shakti for not incorporating the agenda. KCR strongly objected saying that the Centre did not respond to his complaints and instead they supported a new project Rayalaseema lift irrigation scheme (RLIS) without any clearances.
