Eluru Mystery Illness: Mercury Found In The Rice:- A strange illness broke out in Eluru which left more than 600 hospitalized. Several special teams along with doctors are working hard to find out the mystery behind this illness. A week after this illness broke out, some of the experts say that this happened due to the abnormalities in the food of the victims. A video conference was held with the medical experts and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy was present for the conference. Two people passed away with similar symptoms but the government of Andhra Pradesh said that they had other health issues.

The number of cases came down. 13 people are undergoing treatment and the rest of them are discharged. The state government is waiting for the final reports to be out. AIIMS and the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology said that they found lead and nickel in the blood samples of the victims. They said that there is nothing bad in the water. National Institute of Nutrition said that they have found traces of mercury in rice and pesticide, herbicide residues in vegetables. Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board said that there is no presence of any metal in water.

The Institute of Preventive Medicine said they traced no metals in milk. The state government is in plans to promote organic farming and educate the farmers on this to avoid any unexpected incidents to take place in the future.
