Centre Grants Rs 1400 Crores For Visakhapatnam Infrastructure Development:- The 15th Finance Commission recommended Rs 1400 crores for Andhra Pradesh for the development of infrastructure of the port city Visakhapatnam. The government of Andhra Pradesh decided to make Vizag as the executive capital of the state. The Centre considered this after Andhra Pradesh lost its capital after the bifurcation of the state and losing Hyderabad to Telangana. The 15th Finance Commission suggested to carve out Vizag as the major financial centre and growth pole. This fund will be used for the development of roads and construction, administrative buildings, power distribution, underground drainage, water supply. The Commission submitted a detailed report for the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Finance Commission suggests the Centre and the state financial relations. The report was tabled in Lok Sabha by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The report also suggested a spend of Rs 300 crores for the fluoride and drought-prone region Uddanam. The region has a large number of people suffering from kidney-related diseases. Rs 400 crores is sanctioned to fight against the fluoride problem in Guntur district's Palnadu and Prakasam district's Kanigiri. Rs 200 crores are suggested for the filtering of uranium in Pulivendula region. A total number of Rs 2300 crores are suggested as a grant for Andhra Pradesh for the above activities. The grants are expected to be released in the next five years. Rs 460 crores will be granted iin 2022-23 and Rs 690 crores will be released in the next two years.
