12,408 New Coronavirus Cases Reported In India:- The total tally of coronavirus cases in the country reached 1,08,02,591 after a total number of 12,408 cases are reported in the last 24 hours in India. The total number of recovered patients in the country is at 1,04,96,308 as per the reports from the Union Health Ministry. 120 new deaths are reported in the country taking the total death tally to 1,54,823. The Indian recovery rate stands at 97.16 percent and the fatality rate is at 1.43 percent. The total number of active cases is down below 2 lakhs in the country currently. As per the reports coming from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 21 percent of the Indian population aged above 10 years had past exposure to coronavirus.

The third national serosurvey was conducted between December 7th and January 8th. The new coronavirus cases reported today are 4 percent lower than yesterday. As per the reports from the Indian Council of Medical Research, the total number of samples tested in total till date is said to be 19,99,31,795 and the samples tested yesterday are 7,15,776. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to South African President Matemela Cyril Ramaphosa on phone about the measures taken in New Delhi to bring coronavirus to a control.
