6408 village centres to buy foodgrains in Telangana:- The government of Telangana has been a helping hand for farmers and allocated a major portion of the state's budget for farmers and agriculture in the state. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) announced that the government of Telangana will directly procure the foodgrains after offering the Minimum Support Price (MSP) from farmers. For this, 6408 procurement centers in the villages of Telangana are arranged directly for the ongoing Yasanji season. KCR announced that the decision was taken after considering the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in Telangana. A high level review meeting was conducted with the officials after which KCR took the call.
Several issues about marketing, civil supplies department are discussed during the meeting. Ramakrishna Rao, the Principal Secretary for Finance was asked to take all the steps to grant Rs 20,000 crore bank guarantee to the Civil Supplies Corporation for procuring the food grains and arranging the payments to the farmers. Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar will conduct a video conference with the district Collectors so that all the arrangements for the procurement centres will be made. Telangana Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy will monitor the entire process. There would be 2,131 Indira Kranti Patham (IKP) centres, 3,964 PACS (primary agricultural cooperative society) centres and 313 others in Telangana.
KCR announced that the paddy brought to the procurement centres should not have more than 17 percent moisture and all the MSP conditions should be followed. 20 crore gunny bags are being arranged at the procurement centres across Telangana.
