24 dead in Nashik due to disrupted oxygen supply:- At least 24 coronavirus patients died in Nashik, Maharashtra yesterday after an oxygen tanker got leaked outside a hospital. This disrupted the oxygen supply to the patients for 30 minutes in the hospital. District collector Suraj Mandhare informed that 24 people passed away as there was an interruption in the supply of oxygen. The government of Maharashtra ordered a high-level inquiry about the incident and the state's Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased. The incident took place at 12 in the afternoon. A fire brigade team reached the spot to contain the leak. All the deceased victims were on ventilators and they are in need of oxygen supply. The incident took place in Zakir Hussain Hospital which is specially dedicated for coronavirus treatment.

Around 150 patients are getting treated in the hospital and some of them are on ventilator support. The visuals of the gas leak from the container were circulated across the social media. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said he would issue a statement about the same once the investigation is on. The visuals of the family members of the deceased patients are heart-wrenching. The family members tried hard to help the patients who are struggling to breathe. The fire trucks are spotted to stop the leak and water was sprayed in to control the leak. 31 other patients have been rushed to other coronavirus treated hospitals. "The tragedy at a hospital in Nashik because of oxygen tank leakage is heart-wrenching. Anguished by the loss of lives due to it. Condolences to the bereaved families in this sad hour" tweeted Narendra Modi after the incident.
