Special Story: Telugu Satirical Cartoonist Talisetti Rama Rao:- Talisetti Rama Rao, the name is not familiar to this generation. He happened to be the first satirical cartoonist of the country and his cartoons were published in the newspaper Bharathi. Talisetti Rama Rao is named as the King of Telugu satirical cartoons. He was born in 1906 in Jayapuram. After losing his father at a younger age, Talisetti Rama Rao had to work as a tailor for his earnings. He completed his BA after which he completed his BL in Madras. He had close interaction with famous cartoonist Kasinadhuni Nageswara Rao who worked for Andhra Patrika, Bharathi newspapers.

After gaining enough experience, Talisetti Rama Rao also penned several books during his regime. For his incredible contribution and work, his birthday May 20th has been announced as Telugu Cartoonist's Day by cartoonists Sarasri Mohan, Surendra, Sekhar, Shankar, Kalasagar and others in April 2011. Famous director Bapu lauded the efforts and work of Talisetti Rama Rao calling him the best cartoonist among the Telugu community. His cartoons speak a lot told top cartoonist Sri Ramana. Eenadu cartoonist Sridhar calls Talisetti Rama Rao's work exceptional. He passed away in the year 1960.

Every year on May 20th, his birthday celebrations are held in Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The celebrations are canceled this year because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Famous cartoonist MV Ramana Reddy collected all the cartoons of Talisetti Rama Rao and published them as a book in the year 2011.
