Ramappa Temple in Telangana Conferred UNESCO Heritage Tag:- A rare temple in Telangana has been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and it received the Heritage tag. The temple is identified as Ramappa temple that is located in Palampet of Mulugu district. The 13th century Lord Rudreshwara temple is the first temple of Telangana to achieve this. The Ramappa temple was constructed in 1213 AD byRecharla Rudra, a general of Kakatiya King Ganapati Deva by the Kakatiya empire. The World Heritage Committee planned to meet last year but it was called off due to the coronavirus pandemic. After conducting a series of online meetings, the Ramappa temple was finalized. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of Telangana for the rare recognition.

I would urge you all to visit this majestic Temple complex and get a first-hand experience of it’s grandness" posted Narendra Modi along with the temple pictures on Twitter. Telangana Chief Minister KCR thanked UNESCO for recognizing the Ramappa temple as the World Heritage site. “Happy to announce that the 800-year-old architectural marvel of Kakatiya era Ramappa Temple is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site" posted Telangana Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud for the achievement. BJP leader and Union minister Kishan Reddy congratulated the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for their untiring efforts and he thanked the Ministry of External Affairs for their work.

The presiding deity is Ramalingeswara Swamy and the temple took 40 years to construct. It was built with floating bricks and sandbox technology.
