Telangana government to form a Special cell to tackle Drugs:- Telangana Chief Minister KCR had a meeting with the officials of the Excise Department to discuss about tackling the issue of drugs in the state. KCR announced the establishment of a specialized counter-intelligence cell that comes with 1000 specially trained personnel from the Police and Excise departments to deal the narcotics menace in Telangana. The top officials of the Police and Excise Department were present in the meeting and the state's DGP M Mahender Reddy has been asked to initiate the process. The specialized cell will have the latest technology and the cops would be specially trained. There would be special awards and rewards along with promotions and other benefits for those who are exceptional in the service.

KCR said that the cell forces will have sophisticated weapons to tackle with the drug mafia. A team of Telangana Police is asked to study the policies that are followed by the Scotland Yard Police and the Punjab cops. KCR asked the officials to take stringent action on those who are consuming and spreading the drugs in Telangana. "The narcotics turned out to be a big challenge for the state. Multi-pronged approach should be initiated to deal the issue. The sources should be tracked from the production, supply along with transportation. Steps should be taken for the de-addiction of drugs for those who are completely addicted. Awareness programs should be initiated and the village heads, teachers, professors should be active in these programs" told KCR.
