AP High Court orders eight IAS officers to do social service

AP High Court orders eight IAS officers to do social service:- The High Court of Andhra Pradesh yesterday asked eight senior IAS officers to do service at social welfare hostels on one Sunday every month for a complete year. The IAS officers were asked to spend one day with students at hostels and the officers are asked to bear the expenses of the lunch or dinner of the students. The court has been listening to the petitions challenging the move of the government to construct Rythu Bharosa Kendras and Secretariats in the premises of government schools. The court sentenced eight officers for two weeks of imprisonment.

After the IAS officers issued an unconditional apology, the court remitted the sentence and asked them to work on Sunday at the hostels for a year. Justice B Devanand halted the plans of the government to construct Rythu Bharosa Kendras and Secretariats in the government schools. Principal Secretary (Panchayat Raj) Gopalakrishna Dwivedi, Panchayat Raj Commissioner Girija Shankar, former Principal Secretary (School Education) B Rajasekhar, former Commissioner of School Education V Chinna Veerabhadrudu, former Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration) J Syamala Rao, Special Chief Secretary (Municipal Administration) Y Srilakshmi, former Director of Municipal Administration Vijay Kumar Gsrkr, present Director MM Nayak were punished by the court.
