Jahangirpuri Demolition Drive stopped by NDMC:- Despite the Supreme Court issuing orders not to demolish the construction in the region of Jahangirpuri, the NDMC officials carried out the demolition work this morning. The civic body told that it has not received any court order for the same. This triggered violence in the region and the cops gathered in large numbers to control the situation. The Supreme Court will hear the matter tomorrow. The drive was taken days after the communal clashes broke out in the region. The security was tightened in New Delhi. Around 1250 CRPF jawans have been deployed in the city. Saleem and Ansar are the people who are taken into custody for the communal violence.

Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan condemned the attacks saying that the demolition of the houses is just to harass them in the holy month of Ramadan. Several shop owners whose properties were demolished revealed that they would approach the court soon. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the government for the attacks. He asked Narendra Modi to switch off 'bulldozers of hate' and switch on the power plants. The anti-encroachment drive came to a halt after the North MCD received a communication from the Supreme Court registry.
