ED summons Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi

ED summons Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi:- The Enforcement Directorate issued summons to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi in a money-laundering case which is related to the newspaper National Herald. Rahul Gandhi will have to attend before the officials of the Enforcement Directorate tomorrow and Sonia Gandhi has been asked to attend for the investigation on June 8th. Rahul Gandhi is out of the country and he may appear before ED officials after June 5th told the sources. Congress called it a political, legal and social battle. Congress MP and senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi told that there is no evidence of money laundering and he said that the government has been misusing the central probe agencies.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the case had a conversion of debt into equity to pay the dues. He also said that the case was closed by ED in 2015 and the government brought in new officials to reopen the case. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi's statements will be recorded as per the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The National Herald is owned by Young Indian Pvt Ltd and is published by the Associated Journals Limited (AJL). Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Pawan Bansal have been questioned recently in relation with the case. A fresh case has been registered under the PMLA Act after a criminal complaint has been filed by BJP leader and MP Subramanian Swamy.
