Banks refuse to take coins from Sai Baba Temple:- Shocker: As Shiridi Saibaba temple getting Lakhs of rupees in coins as donations, Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) facing a unique problem. Banks interlinked with the trust unable to accommodate the coins that were offered to the Shiridi Sai. The trust has accounts in 13 branches and in different banks. While most of the banks are located in Shiridi itself, the other one is at Nashik. As per reposts, banks hold Rs 11 Cr of trust money in the form of coins alone.

While the local markets are facing a shortage of coins, Shiridi banks are facing problems with excess coins. This issue has turned out to be a big one for the temple. Trust has written a letter to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a solution.

Shirdi is getting coins from 50 Paisa to Rs 10 denomination, estimated at around Rs 28 Lakhs as donations in the form of coins. In 2019 banks faced a similar problem and with the support of SSST officials banks have started using the trust premises as bank rooms to save the coins. But now banks have turned down the offer saying that rules are not permissible for such an arrangement. In one of bank at Shiridi, coins are kept outside the strong room as they are facing a space crunch.
