The GO was passed in 1996 to save resources as the city was facing scarcity of drinking water and also to restrict pollution. The water resources for the city are mainly from the Godavari, Krishna and Manjeera rivers. They are going to construct a ring main, sewerage treatment plans and other measures to procure water. Harish Rao explained that the city will not have any scarcity of water for the coming 100 years. In the meeting chief minister KCR also ordered the officials to come up with necessary plans and designs.
Till now with GO 111, 84 villages around the GHMC area had many restrictions and the development was on hold, but the revocation of the GO will boost the development and real estate in those particular areas.
