Kumar had previously submitted his nomination for the position. Owaisi congratulated Kumar after making the announcement. Following the pro-tem Speaker's declaration, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Bhatti Vikramarka, and BRS MLA KT Rama Rao escorted Kumar to the Speaker's chair.

All members of the Assembly approached the chair to offer their congratulations to the newly elected Speaker. In contrast, BJP MLAs chose not to attend the session, claiming that Owaisi's appointment was in breach of regulations.
