YS Sharmila promises to rebuild Congress in Andhra Pradesh:- In a recent social media post on platform 'X', Y S Sharmila, the Andhra Pradesh Congress chief, expressed her gratitude to AICC leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and K.C. Venugopal for entrusting her with the role of APCC president. She pledged her unwavering dedication and honesty in rebuilding the party to its former glory in Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, Sharmila acknowledged the resignation of Gidugu Rudraraju, the previous APCC chief, and emphasized her eagerness to collaborate closely with every Congress supporter.
Having joined the Congress on January 4 in Delhi, Sharmila, the daughter of former CM Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and sister of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, assumed the position of president of the Andhra Pradesh state unit on Tuesday. She made public her decision to join forces with the Congress and merge her YSR Telangana Party, expressing her willingness to take on any assigned role.
