TDP Guntur MP Galla Jayadev heaps praise on Modi:- In a surprising turn of events, Guntur MP Galla Jayadev of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has showered praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and stewardship of the country. This comes as a stark contrast to the sharp attacks launched by the TDP against the Modi government since 2018. During his last speech in the Lok Sabha, Jayadev commended the Prime Minister for the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, stating that it had redefined and rediscovered India's civilization. He expressed his gratitude and highlighted the significance of this event for Hindus, referring to it as the fulfillment of a 500-year-old dream.
However, Jayadev also spoke about the challenges he faced as a businessman for having opinions that differed from the ruling party. In recent days, he announced a break from politics, citing difficulties in sustaining himself politically due to tough situations created by the state and central governments. It is worth noting that Jayadev's praise for the Prime Minister comes after strong criticism he had previously levied against Modi's policies in 2018, when the TDP's relations with the NDA were sour. At that time, he had referred to Modi's tenure as a "saga of empty promises" and criticized the Centre's flawed policies.
Despite not being a part of the NDA, the MP expressed his admiration for Modi's leadership, emphasizing that India is on the verge of becoming the world's third largest economy. He highlighted the importance of leadership rather than just governance, and stated that the new Parliament embodies the idea of "ek Bharat, shreshtha Bharat" (One India, best India) and exemplifies India's great civilizational culture. Interestingly, Jayadev's praise for Modi comes amid reports of the TDP's interest in returning to the NDA fold. It also follows the party's seat-sharing agreement with Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party in Andhra Pradesh, which was finalized by TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu citing the delay of the BJP in making a decision regarding their alliance. Overall, Jayadev's shift in tone and his praise for Prime Minister Modi showcase the complex and evolving nature of political alliances and dynamics in Indian politics.
