Arvind Kejriwal and K Kavitha's Custody extended by 14 days:- Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Telangana MP K Kavitha - opposition politicians arrested last month, weeks before Assembly polls began - have been sentenced to 14 days' extended detention on charges of liquor policy fraud. The Aam Aadmi Party leader and the Bharat Rashtra Samiti leader, who are in Delhi's Tihar Jail, are next scheduled to be sentenced in court on May 7. The Delhi Chief Minister is challenging his March 21 arrest by law enforcement agencies on money laundering charges in the Supreme Court. The court heard the matter on April 15, but denied Kejriwal immediate relief pending a response from the federal agency. The court is scheduled to hear arguments on April 29, three days after the second-stage vote.

The plea is against the arrest of Kavitha, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation while she was still in jail in the ED case. The case against the BRS chief is that she was part of a businessman's cartel, the South Group, which allegedly paid a bribe of Rs 600 million to AAP for the allocation of her liquor license.
