Women safety first January 15, 2013 12:02

Stalkers, rapists, and several other criminals of different categories in India have taken the safety of women to an appallingly low level. However, there are always bright sides to a story and not all men fall under the sinning category. After the Delhi gang rape incident, the men of the nation have been so shocked that they decided to live their lives more responsibly. This small piece of work is a humble attempt on my part to generate awareness among the women and men of India to help save the weak from being victimized. Fighting back when you are outnumbered might not be so fruitful, while the worst case scenario might be the unimaginable, death. Wiser decisions in this technology-rich days would be making use of your phones to send a signal to the police directly or to your friends who might inform the persons authorized. SOS signals can be sent from your mobiles, the smartphones which have been embraced by almost everyone today, with the help of applications developed by the people in India. Sentinel is one such app that would help you send panic signals and alerts to a group of people you already pre-configure along with the location you are at. Bachao sends distress signals with just one button clicked. Recording evidence, audio and video, is also possible. Sentinel in this case is a much more powerful tool which can send the alerts even when you destroy  the phone. Without a net signal, you can use the inbuilt text functions to send a message automatically too. With the situation in India deteriorating to the poorest levels, it is a shame that we have to adopt such measures for merely being safe. However, putting yourself on the radar at the ungodly hours would be a great way to keep yourself confident when there is no one by your side in the dark alleys and roads. (AW- Anil)

Friday Woods: SVSC reminds of family bonding this Sankranti January 11, 2013 13:17

Sankranti is a time when most of us have long holidays and the whole family joins together during the celebrations. It is time that reminds us of the age old saying that 'unity is strength.' The festival starts with Bhogi on Sunday and the big day is Monday. Bhogi is a day where the old and waste things are burnt away in the early hours of the day. On the second day of the festival a sumptuous vegetarian treat is cooked to appease Gods, after a good harvest. On third day the celebrations vary from place to place. While on the fourth day the family joins to go out to enjoy. This is the ideal day when all the members enjoy the outing while bonding well. Normally most of us wait the whole year to celebrate the festival of bonding. Yeah now it is time to get into something lighter, I think we are getting too much emotional over the issue. For a change in case, you are planning for a film in the holidays then there are two big budget films that are sure to entertain. As the festival is about family bonding the first we would discuss is Dil Raju's Sethamma Vakitlo Sirimalli Chettu. This is the first multi-starer film since two decades or more. Victory Venkatesh and Prince Mahesh Babu portray the roles of brothers. They are awesomely interesting pair and dominate the scenario with their versatility and acting prowess. SVSC is a wholesome family entertainer. For the action lovers there is Nayak directed by V V Vinayak staring Ram Charan, Kajal Agarwal and Amala Paul. As Cherry and Siddharth Naik, the young star had displayed prowess that is sure to get thumps up from fans. Kajal Agarwal and Amala Paul were equally gorgeous with better screen space for the former. Wishesh wishes all it readers a Happy Sankranthi and prays for your happiness. Enjoy the bliss of being together and fly kites while gorging on sumptuous menu. Whether new dress or not this festival is celebrating bonding. Spend most time in enhancing the family relations, as it would give the required mental and physical strengths to face the world. Are 'Eves' safe in rural scenario than urban one! January 10, 2013 17:10

The death of the innocent 23-years-old physio student, Amanat aka Damini aka Nirbhaya (not the real names) after gang raped in a moving bus at Delhi raises a point. And that is, the safety of Indian women needs a retrospection. Are the women safe in the present context. Many people have voiced their concerns while some else have also been criticized for their unwanted comments against the sensitive issue. However nothing much is done and the headlines are fading out from the media though the brutal memories are still afresh in the public. India had witnessed since decades that many issues crop up at a certain point of time but later diminish in to the oblivion as another one supersedes in its place. But this issue should at least not turn into another incident, otherwise the 'martyr' death of a poor soul would never rest. We need to buckle our shoes and look to restructure the society to make it a more lovable place to live-in for the Eves. Their service to the humanity is abundant as mother, sisters, friends, teachers, colleagues, wife or in any role, they add value to the human chain in their own right way. Their contribution had been immense since times and hence we have adored them as deities and even called our country as 'Mother India' (Bharath Mata). Now coming to the point, are the woman safe in a metro or in a rural scenario. Though many incidents of assault on women, are reported even from the villages or towns, it is not worse at least, when compared to the metros. Few reasons are, metro is a concrete jungle where one does not even know the neighbors at times. On the other hand, in villages the community lives like a family. Under these circumstances a stranger in the locality is easily identified in villages when compared to cities. Again in metros, women travel long journeys alone for many assignments which gives the pranksters try their hand at harassing them. In a village even the headman or a government officer is accountable while in a metro the public is reluctant to approach the concerned fearing unwanted implications. This in a way leads to encouraging the wrong and the doer. What should be done from our side to make this society a better place to live-in: The seed of sexual assault is eve teasing...put an end with intention and never expect the law to control you. Make a beginning, give the women, space to live their lives in dignity. They need a better regards from us. This once instead of advising your daughter or sister to avoid something..teach your brother or son how to respect the women folks. The required change will soon dawn on this society, if we start cleaning our homes. (Wishesh AarKay)

No Chanchalguda to Akbar January 09, 2013 13:24

MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, who was arrested yesterday by Nirmal police and sent to judicial custody after he was produced before the first class magistrate, wanted to go to Chanchalguda jail. The court, however, turned down the petition of Akbaruddin Owaisi. On the other hand, police moved a petition seeking 14 days police custody of Akbaruddin Owaisi. The court would hear the petition of the police after lunch today. He is currently at district jail in Adilabad. DIG Bheemanayak has said that Akbaruddin Owaisi has been treated as an ordinary prisoner. Nonetheless, he has said that necessary medical facilities would be provided to Owaisi. Also, MIM apaprently called for a statewide bandh today to protest the arrest. Except in Bhaisa and in some parts of the state, bandh evoked no response. On the other hand, protests went on at the old city area of Hyderabad and condemned the arrest of Akbaruddin. Protesters have even burnt the effigy of chief minister Kiran Kumar and raised slogans against him. Tight security has been arranged in many parts of Hyderabad especially in the sensitive areas that include Chandrayanagutta, Dabirpura, Malakpet, Charminar and Saidabad. The police urged the public to maintain peace and restrain. (AW Phani)

Happy New Year 2013......Sun nien fai lok.......Xin nian yu kuai Welcome back to our daily columns of juicy bites from across. Today we wish you in the Chinese style, the first one is in Cantonese and the next is in Mandarin. These two are the predominant types of Chinese langauges. As usual we bring you some interesting news from across. This is just a sample to a sumptuous fair, just log on to other sections as well and find what others fear to discuss from 'common man's' point of view.   Day's important Wishesh : On this day Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, in 2007 unleashed its flagship product iPhone Original. The first generation of the iPhone has its 7 siblings now in market with the latest being iPhone5.   Tirupati Wishesh: Devotees influx drops, in the early hours of the day only 6 compartments were filled. The Lord's darshan in the temple would now take 4 hours for the general public and 2 hours for the special darshan. National Wishesh: The brutality of the Pakistan Army at Mendhar, 220 kms north of Jammu was condemnable. India would be meeting the Pakistan's High Commissioner at noon, today seeking an explanation over the incident that shook the nation. Two Indian Jawans were killed in yesterday's firing, while the body of one was found beheaded and the head was not found anywhere in the vicinity.   South Wishesh: The MIM party MLA from Hyderabad, Akbaruddin Owaisi's 'hate' speech hurt the national sentiments. But later he was given a clean chit in this regards and had gone a long way from the incident. However he is the star of the day with numerous greetings from all across.   Wishesh Thought: One feels miserable when they tend to find the other person is no way similar. Humans are billions and are products of various permutations and combinations, physiologically or in behavioral patterns. It is very rare to find a person most similar to self. The real problem in relationships arise because we regret that the other person does not react to the situation as we do. Judge everybody as different from you and respect their reactions while deciding for self the future course of action. This is the master key to a happy life.(Wishesh AarKay)

Is Hyderabad safe for women? January 05, 2013 18:32

In the wake of recent Delhi rape incident,  Andhra Wishesh team carried out a drive across the city to find out if Hyderabad was a safe place. Unfortunately, it isn't in the words of many girls and young women who complained to our team that harassment that they go through at many bus stops in the city. Even our team found out the way men were trying to approach these women but on seeing our team, they fled from the scene. Here are some of the places that women-time and again-go through series of comments passed by miscreants. Srinagar bus stop: Our team noticed that several youth pass lewd comments on the girls. Secunderabad railway station main bus stand: The main bus stop, from where buses leave for Mehedipatnam, in Secunderabad is a crowded place. With so many people trying to search for buses and with the horns of buses, no one would really pay concentration on the surroundings. We often presume that bustling streets are safe. Take time and observe around, you will notice a bunch of youths who stare at women. Same is the situation at Secunderabad bus stop. When women pass by the lane next to Alfa Hotel, several youths pass lewd comments and they even try to approach them. Koti Sultan Bazar: This is another bustling street wherein women throng to purchase fancy items. However, you can also observe some youths who would be wandering aimlessly. They pass comments and try to approach the women on streets in the pretext of searching for some stores or items. Nagole: There's a wine shop just behind the bus stop. Although our team didn't see anyone commenting, but staring at women standing in bus stops was observed. Also, our team was shocked to note the way people booze outside the wine shop and in the open place next to that place. Measures: The Hyderabad police should take up the matter seriously. In fact, the above mentioned places are just examples. There could be many more places wherein women might feel unsafe. Andhra Wishesh strongly advocates and demands that following measures should be adopted at these places with immediate effect as situation at these places was alarming. At least three constables including women police should be asked to picket at all these places Two cops should be allowed to sit in a building and observe the area with binoculars or telescopes. If they suspect that a group is laughing or looking at a woman/girl, they should immediately alert the nearby constables and apprehended Posters should be stuck to the walls, by the police, that eve teasers would not be spared with illustrations since most of the eve teasers are apparently uneducated Media should also keep an eagle eye on these areas One or two constables should be ordered to picket the areas in civil to take note of regular eve teasers While uproar is going on across the country over Delhi rape, perverts in the country are still resorting to heinous crimes. Women in Hyderabad too are seriously worried over the same. Let us stop Hyderabad from hitting headlines for Hyderabad. Let us all join hands and not rely entirely on police. Wherever such incident takes place (eve teasing), let us condemn it and safeguard women. (issued in the interest of the public) (AW Phani)

Is our metro a humane society, safe for the women January 05, 2013 13:38

The aftermath of the Delhi rape in moving bus, the searchlight is on women safety of women, in this society where women is still adored by many. Women was considered as a deity in many forms, even our nation was called as 'Mother India'. However in spite of all this, if beastly and brutal assaults on women is on the rise, then an introspection is surely needed. After the report of assault on a 23-years-old para medical student in the nation's capital and subsequent to her death on account of beastly brutal attack of the perpetrators, warning bells rang across the country. The remedial measures suggested are including special syllabus in schools, introducing prohibition and more. Nevertheless all this could have an impact only when the public like you and me have a pre-determined mindset to treat women in all characters with respect. Be it a co-commuter, colleague, sister, mother, friend or wife due respects and importance will only usher a prospective society. Assault on women starts from  being in womb, cases of female infanticide are mirrors to this pathetic state of affairs prevailing in the rural areas. Due to this situation the girl-boy ratio had dropped drastically in certain communities and that is alarming. Be it the co-ed college or the street corner T-stall, women are subjected to slang comments even by educated gangs who meet their in the evenings. To what extent law and order can look into such things. As the victims never raise their voice against the miscreants, fearing worse fate. This is another pathetic issue that needs to be condemned. One fact that most males need to realize that everybody is not for everybody, otherwise the society would turn into a jungle. In the sense being sensitive or possessive on the Eves without their acceptance is another reason for mass assaults on women. And the last most important issue that adds fuels to this burning volcano is forcing them to do something that they do not like. Give them equal rights to live the way they want to be. There is a male chauvinist in all of us as a father, brother, guardian, teacher, or in any other form. Be it honour killings or uninterested weddings, all are equally bad. We fail to understand that they have a right of their own. However advising them does not fall under this but forcibly doing any such activity is as worse as the rapists did the other day. On the other hand, as a family head or as an individual if we respect women, involved in all forms of our lives, at home then the whole outlook of the family will change. Take a step today towards respecting women from today not only at office, even at homes...see the society change in to a more civilized one! (Wishesh AarKay)

TTD has once again implemented the " Maha Laghu Darshan."     National Wishesh: Amanat aka Damini aka Nirbhaya (not the real names), the 23-years- old, physio who died after a brutal and beastly gang rape. Police on Thursday submitted the chargesheet against five of the six accused while demanding death sentence for the five. But the sixth one according to the school certificate is a juvenile. And if the case is recommended to the Juvenile court, the maximum sentence would be three years in a reform facility. In spite of the case being subjudice the public seems to have expressed their anger over the sixth one also, who is alleged to have raped the victim twice and had been barbaric in extracting her intestine with his hands. Does he need mercy for being a juvenile...there is no difference between him and a wild beast thirsting for blood? History Wishesh: The first ever animal was awarded death sentence and electrocuted on this day in 1903. The pachyderm, Topsy, noted for its notoriety had been accused of killing three men, including an abusive trainer. Initially it was sentenced, hanged to death that had been widely protested by public. It was Thomas Alva Edison who suggested the electrocution and thus the animal was killed. Electrocuting an Elephant was a video recording of the penality by none other than the Physicist.       International Wishesh: Two inebriated women tried to enter the cockpit area of a British Airways that was forced to make an emergency landing. As per Daily Mail, the Tunisia bound Boeing 737-400 had witnessed to a brawl of two women aged 50 and 43 who tried to smoke in the toilets. The flight attendants had a tough time making them sit in their seats. Unable to tolerate further, the pilot diverted the airliner to Lyon, where French police boarded and arrested the drunk women.  Tinsel world's hot Wishesh: Glam doll Shriya Saran had already ventured on her full circle of life in the south Woods. But her recent portrayal in one film titled 'Pavitra' is sure to see her through success even in her second innings. The first look posters of this film are already a rage among the youth across south. Check it yourself we have brought one for you!     Day's important Wishesh: On this day in 2010 the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa was officially opened in in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was 829.8 m (2,722 ft) tall.  The tower houses 900 apartments and a tourism attraction to the desert land.       Sports Wishesh: India miserably loses to Pakistan the match and the ODI series at Eden Gardens, Kolkata last night.  India won the toss and elected to field. The visitors made 250/10 in 48.3 overs, with  Nasir Jamshed scoring a blistering 106 with 12 boundaries and 2 sixes. As his partner  Mohammad Hafeez scored 76 runs. On the other hand, Team India suffered a batting collapse with just skipper MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag managing some decent scores of 54 and 31 respectively. Indians 165 with in  458 overs and sent the spectators early home for rest on a chilly night. Wishesh Thought: Parents and grand parents are treasure troves of times. Their ultimate goal was to see you to this stage. They now need your help to lead a honorable life. Respect elders and give them their due importance. This would reflect on your child and it would give you honor when you turn old.  (Wishesh AarKay)

All of sudden one fine morning parted ways and he was seen holidaying with his wife Ramalath. But now he grieves that his ties with her also are not that very good. Oh my dear Prabhu, if two girls are distancing from you then something is really wrong yaar...introspect for a better future...(winks). Day's important Wishesh: After the advent of the android mobiles and tabs, the flip one looks obsolete. However till sometime earlier flip phones were supposed to be elegant possessions. OMG! Worried why I am talking about all this well on this day in 1996 the first flip phone went on sale introduced by Motorola StarTAC. The most popular flip mob, rated as the sixth best since fifty years in the 2005 PC quest mag,  sold 60 million StarTACs.   Tirupati Wishesh: Devotees influx drops, in the early hours of the day only 7 compartments were filled. The Lord's darshan in the temple would now take 4 hours for the general public and  2 hours for the special darshan. Nearly 47,458 pilgrims visited the temple on Wednesday. TTD had taken  decision to allow only 15,000 devotees who trek the seven hills for darshan. Earlier it was unlimited but on a trail basis the announced plan would be taken up for the next ten days on a pilot basis.  History Wishesh: Egypt's worst air tragedy occurred on this day claiming 148 lives, in 2004.  Flash Airlines Flight 604 crashes into the Red Sea. Ms Clinton was diagonalized with a blood clot, related to an earlier  concussion. She was treated with anti-coagulants at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.  She had a stomach infection earlier this month. Conditions is stable claim medical experts and she is ready to resume work as well.   Sports Wishesh: India meets Pakistan in Eden Gardens, Kolkata in the second ODI of a three match series. In the first match played at Chennai, Pakistan outsmarts India. The home team is ll set to avenge the defeat and make the third match look tougher. However Pakistan would like to win the match and win the series at Kolkata. Witty tussle on the hands...keep watching our sports column for more news on sports.  Wishesh Thought: better try before declaring the task as impossible as literates claim that 'Impossible is nothing but I'm possible'. As Wishesh always reminds you that it is better to have tried and lost then never tried at all. The most sincere trial would definitely boost up the moral of the doer and would give new enthusiasm to do better the next time. (Wishesh AarKay)

New Year bonanza for starlets :Morning Wishesh December 31, 2012 12:05

Happy New Year 2013.........Bonne annee............Feliz ano nuevo To all our readers, well wishers and most important to our critics who have been our support in upgrading on a day-to day basis, Wishesh wishes 'Happy New Year 2013'. We also have written in French and Spanish for your reference above. While 2012 has been horrendous for all of us and the last days being extremely painful with the death of the brave daughter of India. We hope that 2013 brings in a sea of changes from the government and from the public as well and we see a better place for the women in our culture rich country.    Tirupati Wishesh: Devotees influx drops, in the early hours of the day only 7 compartments were filled. The Lord's darshan in the temple would now take 4 hours for the general public and  3 hours for the VIP darshan. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the shrine in the early hours of the day.   Sports Wishesh: Inpite of a valiant fight Indian team fell flat at Chennai in the first ODI with Pakistan, on Sunday. Of the 227 runs posted by Team India, but for the skipper's magnificent knock of 113 runs not out, everything else fell out of place. Pakistan easily walked away with the match with the best bowling followed by Nasir Jamshed's brilliant knock of 101 runs coming at number two. Anyways Pak needs to celebrate the occasion. The only honor was recognition Dhoni's knock that was acknowledged by Man of the Match award.  Tinsel world's hot Wishesh: Tonight most celebrities are participating in the New Year eve parties. While many prominent have closed their doors for a party to sympathize the rape victim, yet some are hosting for the elite members. As the latest fashion is to invite starlets to perform at the event, many of them have their dairies filled on the Eve. And the mind boggling fancy figures paid by the organizers is whopping. In Hyderabad South actress and item dancer Charmi is speculated to be paid Rs 15 lakhs for a dance show on the night. On the other hand Malika Sherawat the Bollywood damsel has been paid something around Rs 1.50 crores by a Los Angeles organizer for a party in US.  International Wishesh: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had been admitted in a hospital, Monday morning, in New York. Ms Clinton was diagonalized with a blood clot, related to an earlier  concussion. She is being treated with anti-coagulants and is at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.  She had a stomach infection earlier this month.     History Wishesh: officially by this day in 1991 Soviet Union was dissolved and all institutions of the erstwhile union ceased operations. A union of 15 sub national Soviet republics, had centralized power economy till then.       Day's Important Wishesh: Many travelers to Europe find initially strange to convert their Dollars in to Euros for their onward expenses in Europe. But due credence must given to this day in 1998 when the  European Exchange Rate Mechanism freezes the values of the legacy currencies in the Euro zone, and establishes the value of the euro currency.    Wishesh Thought: What comes with you is knowledge forever and nothing else. Nothing else is permanent in life other than the knowledge gained. Money is fine till a point but beyond that turns painful. Hope our hoarders understand these two important sayings, then India would be out of sufferings. (Wishesh AarKay)

A tribute to Amanat: No new year celebrations in city! December 31, 2012 09:55

The last day of this year is here. This year brought lights into lives of many while it also took parts of our lives by grabbing away a dear sister of Indians and sweet daughter of India, Amanat. After barely three days of her expiry, no one is actually in a mood to celebrate new year. They might exchange new year greetings but no sound celebrations would take place. And that's for sure! Many organizations and clubs in Hyderabad have already cancelled their new year celebrations in the wake of Amanat's sad demise. In fact, Hyderabad Press Club also announced that it would not hold new year celebrations. However, to those who like booze, new year is something that can't be forgettable. They do what not on the mid-night. In order to ensure that law and order doesn't go for toss on this day, Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma has ordered to close all highways from this night. There were apparently incident wherein drunkards reach fly-overs, sit over there, throw bottles and stuff like that in a kick. The observers said that in case the government don't let wine shops sell liquor at least a couple of days before and on 31st night, city will not presumably not witness any accidents, crime or nuisance. Anyway, paying tributes to Amanat, let us welcome this new year with a resolution to respect and protect women. (AW Phani)
