UP chief minister Mayawathi said today that a Dalit can become chief minister if the Telangana state is formed.

Speaking at a meeting of the state Bahujan Samaj Party workers at LB Nagar in Hyderabad, Mayawathi said that the formation of Telangana state would lead to strengthening of her party in the south and a Dalit leader will become chief minister.  

Saying this is the main reason for BSP’s support to the demand for formation of Telangana state, Mayawathi reiterated that her party would support the Telangana Bill if it is introduced in the parliament.

“The UPA government is intentionally delaying the formation of Telangana state,” she charged and asked the congress party and the centre to take a quick decision on the issue.
