One week ago, the government of AP has decided on 2 hrs of power cut per day to cope with the load shedding. Within a week, they have yet again decided to raise the slab to 4 hrs in Greater Hyderabad causing great inconvenience to the people. The Central Power Distribution Company Limited (CPDCL) has increased the power interruption starting Monday to 4 hrs.
This is not the first time that the state had 4hr power cuts. Last year April's demand for power in the peak hours had transgressed 40 million units (MU) and the government had to go for 4 hr power cuts to meet the demands.
This year with the generation losses in the state and the increased demands, CPDCL general manager, AG Satish said "Power cuts have been increased to four hours (in two two-hour spells) from the scheduled two-hour outages from Monday due to rise in power demand,"
Earlier 2 hr power cuts were distributed as one hr in the morning and another in the afternoon to cope up with the 39 MU demands in Greater Hyderabad. Starting Monday, the consumption has gone beyond 40 MU. Another 500 MW deficit has also been adding to the problems after a Bhoopalapally thermal station in the early hours of Monday was hit. Hence, an hour more of the power cut will add every session to the existing power cut in morning and afternoon.
