Tension prevailed in Vijayawada for a while on Sunday when the student leaders of the Samaikhyandhra (united AP) JAC raided a meeting being conducted to discuss division of the state.
Supported by the BJP leaders, some leaders of the Seema Andhra sought permission from police to conduct a meeting at Kandukuri Kalyanamantapam on the division the state but the Vijayawada police refused permission for such a meeting citing law and order problems.
The organizers, however, secretly conducted a meeting at the freedom fighters’ association hall. Student leaders of the JAC for United AP came to know of the meeting and attacked it suddenly resulting in a clash between the two groups. Both groups fought with chairs and sticks resulting in injuries to some student leaders. The meeting was disrupted and Mr Sai Krishna, a student leader of JAC for United AP, was severely injured in the incident.
