Stuck for a long time in jail now, Jagan has new worries keeping him occupied. He sincerely wants to come out and begin activities for elections. But, recent announcements from the Supreme court threw his plans for a toss.
Recently, the Supreme court announced that those charged with crime are not allowed to contest in elections. Moreover, a second announcement stated that those serving jail term or in custody are also not eligible. Jagan, having garnered significant public support, is at a loss for words. He wanted to somehow turn all the pity and sympathy into votes. That seems like mission impossible after just a few days.
He had been behind bars since many months. While his family is doing all it can to keep his popularity intact, he was in the news for infamous reasons. Recent gossips suggested that his hold on the public may be coming down. YSRCP had suffered in recent days.
Jagan has plans to get out of jail on bail as soon as possible, the chance for which is coming up. His bail petition is up for discussion very soon. In case the court does not give him a breather, he would not be able to apply for it again in six months. That would simply shatter any strategies for his career in the future.
Languishing in jail for serious crimes, the YSRC chief and Kadapa MP should not contest for the next general elections. Jagan has a lot to think about.
