With a humiliating defeat in Lok Sabha elections followed by the Maharashtra and Haryana elections, the Congress party is pretty low in confident. And at this time, the voice for the non-Gandhi leader to lead the Congress is slowly growing. Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram probably is the first person to say yes that one day Congress would be led by a non-Gandhi leader.
In an exclusive interview to a new channel Chidambaram made these statements while the Congress remained silent over this. Chidambaram also opined that Sonia and Rahul Gandhi should come out more often and interact with media and raise the public issues at every platform. The ex-Finance minister said Sonia is the best leader of his generation who single handedly led the party in three general elections. However, Chidambaram answered very diplomatic to Robert Vadra and DLF issues.
Post the Maharashtra and Haryana results, the demand for Priyanka Gandhi to lead the Congress is also growing while Rahul Gandhi's credibility is being doubted. Priyanka has been very vocal in the Lok Sabha elections when she campaign on behalf of Sonia and Rahul at Rae Bareli and Amethi constituencies respectively.
