An IAS officer who took on sand mafia has been found dead in his apartment in Bengaluru yesterday. DK Ravi, An Indian Administrative Service officer has been found hanging in his home which has been noticed by his wife and the Bengaluru commissioner said that the officer has committed suicide and an investigation has been launched into the incident and further details will be revealed soon. Ravi has been working as an Additional Commissioner (Enforcement) in the Commercial Taxes Department of Karnataka government. He has been known for his honesty in the department during his tenure till date.

Ravi has been fighting strong against the sand mafia with the local politicians and the police who are involved in this. He has also fought with many of them and the rumor is that the sand mafia is the main reason to end his life tragic. Ravi was a 2009 batch IAS officer and he has been known for his forthrightness and he never tolerated corruption. He has been recently in news for the raids on well known reality firms which failed to pay taxes.
