Manohar Parrikar, the Union Defence Minister has been asked to take the responsibility of Goa as the party could not get good majority in the recent Assembly elections. Manohar Parrikar gained the support of the small and regional parties in the state after which BJP has been asked to form the government. Manohar Parrikar will take the oath as Chief Minister and he needs to prove his majority in 15 days in the house. Hence he resigned for his services as the Central Defence Minister.
Now Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has been asked to take up charge as the Defence minister along with his existing portfolios. There are talks that a senior BJP leader will be brought back into the cabinet soon and will be assigned the role of Defence minister. Before this Manohar Parrikar’s resignation has been accepted by the President today morning.
