Following complaints, that a woman Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector of Trimulgherry area, Swathi Goud employed bouncers to manhandle people while on duty was suspended today afternoon.
As per Joint Transport Commissioner (Administration), T Raghunath, the cop was suspended on charges of ‘recklessness on duty and for collecting bribe’ as well. The action came in wake of instructions of Principal Secretary (Transport) Sunil Sharma to Transport officials to take strict action against Goud. Goud was attached to the Secunderabad RTA.
The controversy involving Goud had started late on Saturday, after she allegedly got two private bouncers to manhandle a private transport company owner Srikanth Reddy. The incident, which took place at Sagar Ring Road, was captured by the CCTV cameras and the visuals have gone viral, forcing the police to register a case.
Srikanth alleged that Swathi demanded bribe to let the driver-cum-owner of the lorry. Srikanth Reddy had all the requisite papers with him and was not at fault. He refused to pay the bribe. Then, Swathi called two bouncers and asked them to thrash Reddy. The thrashing was caught on CCTV cameras.
When Reddy went to file a complaint against her with the LB Nagar police, they refused to book a case claiming they would investigate and then register a case. But, the same police registered a case against him after Swathi Goud filed a complaint accusing him of obstructing her duties.
“According to reports, she was violating rules and checking vehicles without any directions from higher officials,” an RTA official said, adding that further inquiry will be conducted into the issue.
The police have now filed a case against Swathi Goud, with the footage going viral. However, Swathi refuted Reddy’s allegations and said that the lorry driver abused her due to which she sought the help of her brothers. This led to a scuffle, she said.
Significantly, the area where the enforcement drive was conducted, does not fall under Swathi Goud’s jurisdiction. There have been similar complaints against her over breaching jurisdiction. She is also said to have used her position to get some cases against her brother struck off.
