Venkaiah Naidu Congratulates AP Students For Everest Climb:- A group of social welfare and youth services students have been congratulated by the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu for climbing the Mount Everest.
Naidu said, “They come from normal families and have succeeded in a great way. I congratulate them for taking up this historic foot. Being students from the downtrodden society, they have made it to the top. It is a great achievement.”
The chief coach of the team, Sekhar Babu said, “This is the first time an Indian team opened a route to the summit from the north end especially in this season, when it is difficult.”
Mr. Babu further added that, “Apart from being trained at 21,000 feet, they were also trained physically and mentally.” “At some points, the team had to cross over the dead bodies.”
Youth services officer Komal Kishore said, “We only want to channelize their energies into doing good things. We want these youth to believe that if they climbed Everest, they could achieve anything in the world.”
A climber and a native of Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district, Bharath said, “We received support from the government. They have spent Rs 30 lakh on each person and we thank them for it.”
Another climber, Rani, from Andhra’s West Godavari district, said before starting for the summit, she had a fear. But, her teachers encouraged her a lot.”
Before moving towards Nepal to climb the world’s tallest mountain on April 8, the group underwent six months of training. For the summit, nineteen youngsters started out for it, but only 14 completed the climb successfully.
