LMD And SRSP To Get Kaleshwaram Water By Next June?

LMD And SRSP To Get Kaleshwaram Water By Next June?:- Launching the third phase of Haritha Haram, a State-wide plantation drive aimed at planting over 40 crore saplings, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said a green Telangana would be possible only with the success of the Hartiha Haram.

KCR said that nature would be giving out the best where it is revered the best. Karimnagar district will not only be the major beneficiary of Haritha Haram, but it will be the first beneficiary of the Kaleshwaram project, added the Telangana CM.

He announced that the district will get water from Kaleshwaram by June next year to grow two crops. The same is the case with Warangal district as well. In the two districts, over 15 to 16 lakh acres will receive Kaleshwaram water soon.

To extend irrigation to over 30 lakh to 40 lakh acres in North Telangana, the government is going all out, once the ongoing projects are completed.

The irrigation system under mid-Low Manair Dam (LMD) and the Sriramsagar project (SRSP) will be supported with the Kaleshwaram project. “The government will not rest until its promise of water for one crore acres of agricultural land is fulfilled. The Palamuru Rangareddy lift scheme will meet the irrigation needs in a big way in the southern districts of Telangana State,” he added.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government, because of its commitment to the development of the poor and disadvantaged sections, has made Telangana emerge as a major welfare State in the country. The government had been extending an assistance of Rs 1,000 a month under different pensions to over 40,000 people. Over 93,000 rice card holders were being provided with rice at Rs 1 per kg.

The sheep rearing programme launched by the State was unique in the country. Taking a dig at the Opposition for failing to appreciate the moves of the government for the uplift of the people depending on traditional occupations, he said the government had aimed at providing 84 lakh sheep units under the programme.

A green Telangana is possible only with the success of the Haritha Haram programme, he said, adding that the green cover will help improve rainfall in the State, besides drought-proofing the arid zones. He said Telangana should prosper in all areas.
