CPI Maoist Commander Surrenders To Telangana Police:- CPI Maoist Usoor Militia Platoon section Commander Podiyam Lakku (20), and militia member Sodi Laxmi (18) surrendered before Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Eturnagaram, Rahul Hegde on Tuesday.

ASP Hegde, presenting them before media at his office, said that Podiyam Lakku, joined the CPI Maoist party as militia member in 2011. Lakku, a Gotti Koya tribesman, was a resident of Singanpally village of Usoor Taluq in Bijapur district of Chattisgarh state. In 2014, he got elevated to the post of militia platoon section commander and since 2016, he had been working under the leadership of local organization squad (dalam) commander Ramesh.
In 2013, Lakku has allegedly participated in an ambush on police party and an exchange of fire between police and Maoists at Pavurugudem in June last year and in another exchange of fire at Thummirel in September, 2016. Lakku was accused of murdering Sodi Bheema, a resident of Nanbi village of Usoor Taluq, branding him as the police Informer in June this year.
Meanwhile, in 2016, Sodi Laxmi through Usuru dalam commander Ramesh, joined the Maoists as the militia member and participated in exchanged of fire at Thummirel in September, 2016 and also participated in murder of Sodi Bheema. Laxmi is a Gutt Koya, tribal, of Singanpally village of Usoor Taluq.
With the ideology of Maoists, the militia members of the Maoists were disillusioned and decided to join the mainstream to spend the normal life. “No cases will be booked against those persons who surrender to the police. The government will also provide relief to them,” the ASP added.
CRPF, Assistant Commandant Jalam Singh, Venkatapuram CI and SI N Ravinder and B Kumar respectively were present at the press meet.
