No New Ministers from Telugu States

No New Ministers from Telugu States: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded his cabinet yesterday and the reshuffle took place before Modi got ready for his China trip. Six ministers have been asked to resign and they have been promised other respective roles in the party. Nine new ministers have been inducted into Modi’s cabinet after the reshuffle. The list includes Ashwini Kumar Choubey (Bihar), Satya Pal Singh (ex-Mumbai Police chief), retired IAS officer KJ Alphons, Virendra Kumar (Madhya Pradesh), retired diplomat Hardeep Puri,  former home secretary RK Singh, Shiv Pratap Shukla (Uttar Pradesh),  Anant Kumar Hegde (Karnataka) and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (Rajasthan)

Telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana expected two new faces into Modi’s cabinet as this is said to be the last expansion before the 2019 Parliament elections. Narendra Modi left the Telugu states in deep shock as none of them managed to make it into the list. Bandaru Dattatreya who has been the Minister of State (independent charge) for Labour and Employment has been asked to resign and he submitted his resignation on Friday. Bandaru Dattatreya has been promised Governor for a state very soon and he was quite happy for that.

Senior BJP leader and Vizag MP Kambhampati Hari Babu got a call from the party high command to come to Delhi after which he flew with his entire family. All the news channels aired that Kambhampati Hari Babu will be inducted into Modi’s cabinet but he had to return back with huge disappointment. Names of Muralidhar Rao and Sri Ram Reddy made rounds that they will be taken into Modi’s cabinet but it did not happen. Though Nirmala Seetharaman has been promoted in Modi’s cabinet, she is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka.

Modi’s new cabinet expansion turned out to be a huge shock for Telugu speaking states AP and Telangana as none of the leaders have been considered for the cabinet in the reshuffle. Congress leaders commented that Narendra Modi insulted Telugu people badly with his cabinet expansion.
