Nawaz Sharif’s Son-In-Law Arrested On Return To Pak:- Mohammad Safdar, son-in-law of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was arrested by the Pakistani’s anti-corruption authorities, on Monday, in connection with corruption cases pending against him.

Safdar was arrested from the Islamabad airport early Monday on his arrival from London, said a Cabinet minister Talal Chaudhry. The arrest of Safdar comes hours after he and his wife Maryam Nawaz were to appear before an anti-graft tribunal. She was not detained and later reached the court.

Reports said that the couple had arrived to appear before the accountability court. The path of the vehicle carrying Safdar was obstructed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz workers, as they lay on the road. To remove the workers, the local police had to use mild force. After Safdar failed to appear in previous hearings, the arrests follow a non-bailable warrant issued by the accountability court. Both Captain Safdar and Maryam Nawaz will appear before the court on Monday.

After an investigation into documents leaked from a Panama law firm indicated that Sharif and some of his family members had undisclosed assets abroad, Sharif, his daughter, his son-in-law, and his two sons face corruption cases. In July, Sharif was disqualified from office.

Maryam Nawaz, before leaving for Islamabad, said the cases against the family were not for justice but for revenge. She said judicial system of Pakistan will be tested by her.

“It has been exposed now and the whole world knows that this is not accountability; rather, it has turned into revenge now. I do not need to say anything here, the way things have been going on over the past year and a half has revealed the truth to the nation,” a leading news channel quoted her as saying.

Captain Safdar said that on the advice of his lawyers, he returned to Pakistan. The bank accounts and properties of the Sharif family were seized by the National Accountability Bureau sleuths. Nawaz Sharif, under pressure, returned to Pakistan, to face the charges.
