Idea Of “Independent Kashmir” Rejected By Pak PM Abbasi:- The idea of an “independent Kashmir” has been rejected by the Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. This remark of Abbasi is indeed expected to earn him massive crititicism in his country.

The idea of Kashmir has no “reality”, said Abbasi speaking at an event held at the London School of Economics. “The idea is often floated around but has no reality,” Pakistan’s leading news channel quoted Abbasi, as saying while responding to a question over the contentious Kashmir issue.

The Pakistan PM while replying to a question about India-Pakistan relations, said, “Talks are the only way forward, without talks no quantum change is possible.”

When the Indian government has appointed former Intelligence Bureau chief Dineshwar Sharma its representative to told talks with all stakeholders in Kashmir, the remarks of Abbasi come thereafter.

The Centre’s move has been welcomed by the Mehbooba Mufti government. It said that it is expecting a positive outcome. However, the Kashmiri separatist groups have refused to join the talks.

Earlier, a firm stand was taken by the Modi government, which refused talks with Hurriyat leaders to resolve the Kashmir issue. However, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, made an announcement during his August 15 speech saying that only by embracing the people of the region, the Kashmir issue can be resolved.

“Na gaali se, na goli se, parivartan hoga gale lagaane se (Only by embracing the people, and not with abuses or bullets, can there be a change in Kashmir),” PM Modi had said addressing the nation from the rampart of Red Fort.
