Hyderabad HC Imposes Strict Rules Against Cockfights:- Though strict rules have been implemented every year, the traditional cockfights take place across the Telugu states. Hundreds of crores get exchanged during the festival season and the cops along with the leaders too participate in the traditional act during Sankranthi. Now the Hyderabad High Court directed Andhra Pradesh government to ensure no cockfights will be held during the festival season this year.

Hyderabad High Court asked the leaders along with cops to prevent the practise. It also asked the state's DGP along with the district collectors to personally monitor the situations. This left the leaders in deep shock and the High Court left DGP and the Chief Secretary responsible if the activity takes place. Earlier last month, AP Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu warned TDP leaders not to be a part of the cockfights during Sankranthi 2018. Cockfighting is banned under the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals Act, 1960, and the Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act, 1974.
