Death Penalty For Rape Of Girls Below 12 Years:- The Centre today approved the ordinance to amend the Protection of girl children from sexual offences (POSC) Act and the update says that the accused will get death penalty for the rape of children below the age of 12 years. After the Kathua and Unnao incidents shattered the country and triggered criticism against the NDA Government, the decision has been taken. Several rape cases have been registered in the recent times on children below 10 years.

The minimum punishment in the rape of women has been increased to ten years from seven years and it can be even extended to life imprisonment. In case of raping a girl below 16 years, the punishment has been increased to 20 years. The rape cases hearing should be completed in two months. No anticipatory bail will be granted for those who raped a girl under 16 years. Special forensic kits for rape cases to all Police Stations and hospitals will be provided soon.
