
No Need To Panic About Nipah Virus Says Centre:- Nipah virus created a stir in Kerala and it killed 11 people for which there has been no vaccine. 18 people have been infected before it was contained. The Union Health Ministry released an official statement after Nipah virus created a panic across the country. As of now seven people are being treated in different wards and some others are under observation. Health Secretary Preeti Sudan confirmed that they have been able to contain the virus well.
The virus that causes high fever, headache and coma in extreme cases is spread by fruit bats. The mortality rate has been 70% and there has been no vaccine for Nipah virus as of now. Human transmission of Nipah can happen through body fluids. National Institute of Virology in Pune has been working and over 60 samples have been tested till date. Preeti Sudan confirmed that there is nothing to panic as all the contacts have been traced. The World Health Organization was informed about Nipah cases and both Centre, state authorities responded promptly and deployed teams.
