Rs 1000 Cr Flushed Down To Clean Hussainsagar In 15 years:- Hussainsagar is country's most polluted lake and the surprise is that Rs 1034 crores have been spent in the last 15 years to clean the lake. The biggest surprise is that despite of huge efforts the quality of water hasn't improved and it is because no one took care of the inflow of waste that has to be restricted to clean the water. Hussainsagar is 462 years old and continues to carry a pathetic image and contains harmful substances along with heavy metals to poisonous salts.

Thousands of tonnes of municipal and industrial wastes are being dumped into the river because of which the river has been turning even worse every day. On the eve of World's Environment Day, Times of India conducted an in depth analysis and revealed these shocking facts about Hussainsagar. All the money spent since 2002 has been borrowed from external agencies. Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority spent Rs 280 crores in 2016. Hussainsagar's ecosystem has been deteriorating everyday and the locals are worried that Hussainsagar will soon end up as a large sewage effluent tank in Hyderabad.
