Vijay Mallya Asked To Pay 200,000 Pounds To Indian Banks:- Liquor baron Vijay Mallya has been absconding from the country after he owes Rs 9000 crores to Indian banks. Vijay Mallya has been residing in UK and India has been trying their best to extradite Vijay Mallya. Now the UK High Court ordered Vijay Mallya to pay 200,000 pounds to the Indian banks towards the costs incurred by 13 banks in their legal battle.

Judge Andrew Henshaw refused to overturn the worldwide order to freeze Mallya's assets last month. Indian banks led by State Bank of India (SBI) were entitled to recover 1.145 billion pounds from Vijay Mallya. The liquor baron has also been ordered to pay the cossts for registration of the freezing order and for the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) of Karnataka's judgment in Britain. Vijay Mallya’s lawyer claimed that the criminal charges have been politically motivated.
