Telangana Tops In Revenue Collection:- The newly formed Telangana state topped the country in growth in state's own tax revenue (OTR) collection. This has been according to a report released by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) which has been out on Monday. The figures for the financial years June 2014 to May 2018 have been out. The average growth rate of Telangana in OTR has been 17.2% which is highest in the country.
The tax revenue growth rate slipped from 21.1% to 16.8% during 2017-18 which was due to demonetisation and GST. Haryana stood second with 14.2% growth rate and Maharastra in third with 13.9%. Odisha made 12.4% and West Bengal made 10.3% revenues. All the rest of the states achieved below 10%. Telangana Chief Minister KCR expressed his happiness over the CAG report. KCR revealed that the commitment of the people along with fiscal discipline and progressive financial policies in paying the taxes to the government made the state achieve high growth rate.
