Srikakulam Floods: Over 50 Trapped Laborers Rescued:- Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district was flooded after abundant rainfall lashed the district.
According to earlier reports, some 53 laborers (sand workers) were feared trapped in flood water near Puroshothapuram in Sarubujjili Mandal. Vamsadhara river which is in spate following heavy rainfall.
As soon as word got out, the government hurried rescue teams including National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force into service to rescue victims trapped in floods. Up to now, some 24 members were initially rescued by the team.
The endless downfall through the night has made rescue operations a challenge for the teams. It is learned that Visakhapatnam Navy personnel services were sought to rescue the other victims.
According to officials, all the 53 members who were caught in floods have been rescued. Workers have been well-advised against venturing out in turbulent weather condition.
