#MeToo Row: Union Minister MJ Akbar Resigns:- Union Minister MJ Akbar has been accused of harassing multiple women for sexual favours. After a woman journalist accused MJ Akbar of harassment, over 17 other women stepped out to reveal about their bitter experiences with MJ Akbar. The Minister has been out of country and did not respond on the allegations. However BJP sources left the decision to MJ Akbar and he submitted his resignation today. MJ Akbar filed a law suit revealing that these allegations have defamed his identity.

"Since I have decided to seek justice in a court of law in my personal capacity, I deem it appropriate to step down from office and challenge false accusations levied against me, also in a personal capacity," he said in a statement. MJ Akbar revealed that he would seek justice through the court and will follow the law. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for serving the country.
