Central Cabinet Approves AIIMS In Telangana

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been fighting with the Central government for granting All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state and his dream came true. The Cabinet approved two AIIMS and they will be set up Telangana and Tamil Nadu respectively. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad declared the news after the Union Cabinet Meeting. The AIIMS in Telangana will be set up in Bibinagar.

The project got the principal approval last year, the final nod has been given recently. The total cost of the project is said to bee Rs 1028 crores and will be made under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). The government allotted 223 acres of land in Bibinagar and it has been approved by the team that came from the Centre. The 750 beds hospital can treat 1500 outpatients along with 1000 inpatients.

The project is expected to be completed in 45 months. 1000 MBBS seats along with 60 nursing college seats are approved for AIIMS in Telangana.
